06 Feb Worship Me Here

“In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.” – Eph. 1:11

15 years ago God spoke to my wife after He had given her a picture of a map of Japan with a few candles burning across the land. Maria saw this image in her heart and asked the Lord, “What are these candles?”, to which He replied, “Those are people worshipping me in Japan.” Maria was stunned. “There are so few!”. To this response the Lord said, “You are right. Will you come worship me here.”

That began the adventure of moving and growing our family in the Land of the Rising Sun. I find it interesting how easy it is for us humans to hear God quite clearly at times and still run with our idea of what He said. God told us to worship Him here. It was that simple.

Our call was to come to Japan and to worship. How I interpreted that was to come build a school of worship to educate the bride here how to grow a heart of true worship for the King of All, the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, that is a good idea, and we may end up doing that. But the call was, first and foremost, to worship Him here. That and only that are to be the foundation of all that we do. It is the first principle of our lives and ministries. Knowing this keeps things simple. It also keeps us focused and grounded.

He has since asked us to pioneer a YWAM base and re-start DTS. But our call is still to worship. He has asked us to start a house church. But our call is still to worship. He has called us to start an apostolic center that operates like a sort of ministry clearing house. But the foundation of our secret lives is still just simply to worship. So, my wisdom is not worth much. He works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will. His idea is simple. Worship Him here. Wherever you are, just worship Him.
