30 Aug August News!
Hello, from YWAM Tokyo!
We would like to give you a quick update of what we’ve been doing and also, of what’s to come!
English Summer Camp!
For the past 3 years, a few of us have volunteered at an English camp, hosted by a local church. This year, 5 staff went to help. 370 children registered to come. Praise the Lord! Teachings about Jesus were presented each day at camp, through songs and lesson times. The parents were often there during the bible teachings, either when dropping off or picking up their children (picture above). This means that we not only got to minister to the children, but to their parents! All those in the surrounding community seem to have embraced this camp and are impacted by its influence. Please be praying for all of those who have heard the message of truth and are now trying to live it out.
During this summer, many of our staff have been visiting home and raising more support. The staff who stayed in Tokyo have continued reaching out to the Japanese people with weekly trips to Ikebukero for evangelism and worship. Staff have also partnered with local churches and poured into community through relationship. We had the honor of hosting two teams from YWAM Jeju this summer and one team from YWAM Singapore partnered with us in outreach. We’ve also continued our weekly worship night outreach called ‘Living Room’. These last couple weeks, we’ve been able to host this worship night on our base property instead!
Rugby World Cup 2019!
This fall, the Rugby World Cup is coming to Japan! Over 400k people are planning to attend these games, along with all of the teams, representing many different nations! This will be an amazing time to share the Gospel in this country! YWAM Tokyo will be sending a team of missionaries to the Oita Prefecture, where some of the games will be held.
Please be praying for us and for all of those who come to Japan to share about Jesus in this time; & for a move of God as they serve in that region.
Upcoming Fall DTS!
As we were praying over this upcoming DTS, we felt 3 themes in regards to this next season:
First, to come into the revelation of the personhood of Jesus; without any false, lens or religion.
Second, that as we learn to see Jesus better, we would fall in love with Him and give Him all that we have.
And third, that through loving Jesus, we would be able to empower our students to lean into that same understanding. We hope that they will take this joy and love back to their communities, and pour it into the lives of their own families and friends.
The fall DTS starts on September 16th, and we are so excited! We look forward to walking through this season together with Christ at our side.
Thank you for visiting our blog. We hope to continue keeping you up to date on what YWAM Tokyo is doing!
