A Year of Great Expectation

31 Jan A Year of Great Expectation

Happy New Year! Thank you for visiting our blog and keeping up to date with our latest news. We are really excited for this year ahead and we look forward to sharing it with you as we go! Please commit yourself to be praying for our community and the ministries that we facilitate this year!

TOKYO STATION

We thought that it would be nice to give you a quick reminder of some of what happened last year and then also, to share some of what we plan to see this coming year.

In the fall of 18’, through till the spring of 19’, we ran a secondary school called SWAT (School of Worship and Transformation). This was a pivotal time for our base as we went deeper into our understanding of worship and God’s influence in our lives. One of our ministries called ‘A Million Lights’ had multiple seminars and outreaches. After serving at multiple different bible camps and with a variety of ministry opportunities throughout the summer, we then started a DTS (Discipleship Training School), in the fall of 19’. This school is currently on outreach in two separate teams (Fiji/Sendai & Alaska/Hokkaido).

This February, we will have the DTS teams back to finish up their school and graduate. Then we have a commissioning event in March for a handful of our staff who will be pioneering new YWAM Japan locations this year. After that, we will begin preparing for what hosting the Olympics has in store for us. Clearly, this is just a limited peak into what is happening here but we want to just say thank you, thank you, thank you. Your prayers and support are so appreciated!

Ministry Spotlight

A Million Lights exists “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ” in Japan. This ministry began in late 2018 and since, we have held seminars in eight different locations, spanning five different prefectures across Japan. We have received positive feedback from our seminars so far! One participant said, “I had never shared with an unbeliever about God before. From now on, I want to be more open with each person that I encounter.”

In 2020, we hope to conduct even more seminars and outreaches than last year. We are praying about and working towards impacting strategic areas and drawing churches and ministries together through larger events. We believe that 2020 is a key year for Christians in Japan. People from all over the world will be gathering in Japan as we host the Summer Olympic Games! In this critical season, we are eager to cast a vision for Japanese believers to be bold and to clearly proclaim the Gospel, not just locally, but also globally. We believe that Japanese Christians are able to be effective witnesses of Christ among their families, friends, co-workers, and beyond!

Please pray for our ministry, that the Lord would open relational doors for us to partner with various congregations within various denominations throughout Japan. As we move forward through these doors, please pray that the Lord would provide for all of our needs; financial or otherwise. Also, please pray that the Lord would work through our seminars and outreaches, that Christians would be empowered, and that as a result, people would hear the Gospel and be born again into a glorious new life. Praise God for this wonderful grace!
